"Startled To Realize I Lost 15 lbs."
My interest in starting boot camp came
from trying to fight some of the issues that come with
aging. I keep babies and toddlers at church on Sunday
morning. I love to get down on the floor and play with
the kids but that was becoming increasingly difficult.
Getting up off the floor was hard enough but getting up
while holding a child was almost unsafe. I could tell my
balance and strength weren’t what they used to be.
When I realized bending over to tie my shoe was
challenging my balance, I thought I’d better start
working on it now.
Through the last 18 months of participating in boot
camp, my balance, strength and endurance have all
improved a lot. A side benefit has been weight loss.
Losing weight was not of prime importance to me. It’s
been nice to lose without changing my diet much at all.
When I started I would have been glad to know I could
lose 5 pounds, thrilled to maybe lose 10.
I was startled to realize I was down by 15 pounds. When
I get rid of a couple more I’ll be at a weight that I
never really even dreamed of seeing again .

Before I started boot camp, I led a

physically and my self-esteem was non-existent.
I’ve been overweight my entire life and just the thought
